Five Things to Do in Las Vegas That Have Nothing to Do with the Casinos

When you think about Las Vegas as a tourist destination, the first thing that typically pops into a person’s head is the casinos. Las Vegas is known for its sprawling casinos, each with their own theme and their own experience clustered along Las Vegas Boulevard or The Strip. But what happens if casinos and gambling aren’t really your thing? Does that mean you should cross Las Vegas off your list of destinations to visit? The short answer is no.

The Las Vegas tourist board has been working hard to inform visitors about all the casino attractions, but also make clear the fact that the city is so much more than just a casino destination. Today there are attractions and sights meant to appeal to a wide range of tourists, including families who are looking for that perfect family getaway.

Here we’ll take a look at five entertaining things to do and see in Las Vegas that have absolutely nothing to do with the casino and gambling.

Venture Outside the City to World Famous Landmarks

While there is nothing wrong with sticking to the city, and there is certainly loads to see and do, the fact is that Las Vegas is located in relatively close proximity to some of the most well-known landmarks in the entire United States. You can rent a car and head east a few hours and find yourself at the Grand Canyon. The Canyon offers absolutely breathing-taking vistas and views, and plenty of tour experiences such as riding an electric bike, boarding a helicopter tour, a bus tour, and more.

If the Grand Canyon isn’t really your speed, you could always check out the Hoover Dam. Again, you can rent a car, or you can take a guided tour to the Dam. The Dam is located just a few minutes outside of Las Vegas, so this is a much shorter trip.

The traveller365 website is a great site to visit if you’re looking for more information on either of these landmarks, including the tours available, costs, tips, etc. Its blog on Las Vegas also covers a few other notable sights and attractions worth visiting and could help you to build a more complete itinerary. It mentions such attractions as the CityCenter Tram, Adventuredome, and the Stratosphere.

Get Some Serious Shopping In

One thing that may not come to mind when you think of Las Vegas is its incredible shopping opportunities. Not only can you visit some of the most exclusive and well-known designer shops selling high-end products, but you can also do some outlet shopping.

Outlet shopping is the way to go if you’re in search of a deal. There are three major outlet centres. These are the North Las Vegas Premium Outlets, Las Vegas Premium Outlets South, and the Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas. You can hit up just one or tour all three in search of some fabulous finds. The outlets offer up to 65% off, so the savings are substantial.

Get Your Fill of Adrenaline with Indoor Skydiving

Have you ever been curious about what skydiving must feel like but the idea of jumping out of an actual plane is too much to handle? What if you could experience the sensation in a more controlled and safe manner? That’s exactly the experience you can get with indoor skydiving, available at Vegas Indoor Skydiving. You’ll find this attraction just off the main strip, and it is open seven days a week.

You will be skydiving in a padded room where a fan is blown at you. This fan is able to generate 120 mph winds so that you experience that same sensation. There is no need to jump, as you start on the ground and the fan pushes you up allowing you to blow around in the air.

Endless Shows, Concerts, and Sports to Take In

Just because you may not feel like gambling at the casinos it doesn’t mean they don’t offer other entertainment that can appeal to you. Las Vegas is a mecca for shows, concerts, and live sporting events. In fact, you may want to look at the schedule before booking your trip, so you can plan your time around a particular event you want to see.

Some of the biggest names in show business either headline residency shows in Las Vegas or perform in the city. There are also shows such as “O” by Cirque du Solei, which is world-famous.

A Collection of Museums to Tour

If you enjoy strolling through museums, then Las Vegas won’t let you down as there are a number that you can check out. These include the Las Vegas Natural History Museum, the Trick Art Museum, and the Mob Museum, to name a few.

As you can tell, a trip to Las Vegas is one that offers something for everyone, no matter their age or interest, and gambling doesn’t even have to be a part of the itinerary.
