I am really rubbish at buying gifts for men; I totally lack creativity and imagination. I do feel (and this is a huge generalisation for which I apologise in advance) that women are easier to buy for. Clothes, books, jewellery, candles, bath stuff, it’s all there. Perhaps there is just more stuff marketed at women so I don’t need to think too much about what I’m buying. But men… well, it’s a whole different ball game. This year, I’ve come up with a pretty succinct, if not rather last minute, gift guide to suit the men in your life… or hopefully at least one of them!
Another stereotype I’m afraid – where us girls have gin, men apparently favour whisky (it is at least true in the case of my husband and me). I love smart gift sets like this one from The Whisky Shop, which are ideal for your Dad, Step-Dad or father-in-law, if they are drinkers:
A good way of getting your man to wear something you find him especially attractive in is to give it as a gift (what?! It can’t just be me!). I love these fitted men’s shirts from Charles Tyrwhitt:
Amazon Echo Spot
To be honest, I’m not even sure what this is but it looks cool and it can answer all your questions – it’s basically magic. I would have loved to see my dear old Grandad’s reaction to this (not that he ever used the internet in his entire life). A handy addition to any bedside table:
Find My Past DNA testing kit
For the genealogy geek in your life, this is absolutely ideal – a simple-to-use DNA testing kit that will show them exactly where their roots lie. It is also a fantastic tool if they are interested in researching their family history.
I think that just about covers everything – alcohol, clothes, gadgets and, erm, DNA swabs… a gift to suit every man!
What have you bought for the men in your life? I would love to hear your inspiration in the comments (to be honest, my male relatives will probably thank you)…
